Wow!

Can you belive these C. reginae were growing 10 ft from a highway in a ditch just inches away from the state's tractor mowing path? I almost shot out of the truck when I spotted them off the highway and prompted my father to turn around for some photos and a look at them. I just couldn't belive that I went through miles of forest and bog with nothing yet walk 10 ft or less to a huge clump of them. I might bring this to the state to relocate them as the threat of a mistake of going too close with the tractor mower might be a very saddening sight if I were to see or hear of it. Enjoy otherwise!

beautiful , i wish i ahd those orchids , they look carnivorous too with there pouches , i use to have a paphiopedellum or whatever it was called , sadly it died .

OMG! Dustin, PLEASE say something to the state about that! What a loss that would be if they got mowed! They are absolutely beautiful and lucky you for having gotten to see them! The cyps are so rare as it is...do you know if they are protected in your state?

The highway folks would have no clue that they are so rare and precious and they'd probably mow without a thought.

Maybe you could email that photo to someone at the state (conservation dept. or highway or...something...) and tell them where they are located.

Makes me sick to think they might get destroyed.

It takes years and years before they are mature enough to bloom so those are old plants.

Thanks for the beautiful pic! Just awsome!
