S.Flava flowering...in the middle of November!

This morning I noticed something werid at the base of my S.Flava ('copper top' variety).

I noticed that a flower stalk is coming up. I (along with my S.Flava) live in Boston, MA and it's the middle of November.

I noticed that it's growth was slowing down and phyllodia was growing, but I thought that was because of dormancy.

What would be causing my 'copper top' to flower at this time of year? Doesn't S.flava flower in early spring?

Also, how does one preserve pollen for pollination at a later time (say for next spring...so I can make hybrids)?

Off season flowering is unusual but not all that rare. What causes it? ???

See this thread

and this post

BTW: one of my S. leucophylla is flowering too.

Well....as long as it's natural for it to flower (sometimes) during this time. I was affraid that flowering now would cause my S.Flava to die....or grow bad and non-robust.

It's probably confused. It's been warmer than normal here in the N.E.
