"Sarracenia flava var. rubricorpora... unfortunately usually only produces a single large pitcher per rosette each year..."

^For the most part, is this true? Do you guys find this plant to be an overall slow grower? When does it begin to produce phyllodia?

Thanks for the info! :)

My guess is that what he means is the there will be one spectacular pitcher while the rest are smaller. Sarracenia oreophila is like this as the first few pitchers of the season will usually be much larger than later pitchers.

It depends on the clone. Most produce a single large pitcher per growth point, although there are some individuals which clump a bit more.

Flava var. rugelii has a clumping habit, which you don't often see with rubricorpora. Here you can see the usual difference in growth habit:

Hmmm... I see what he meant now.

Here are some pictures I had seen a while ago that made me question Barry's statement above. I don't know if it's just me, but I have trouble seeing the big, impressive pitchers from the others... Variability in size is expected, right? ....they all look good to me:

However, there are some that do show a clear distinction:

I guess it depends on the clone, like Alexis said.

Mine makes 1 larger pitcher and then smaller pitchers per growth.

I have been fairly lucky with my two plants usually putting out more than one pitcher. I would defiantly agree that they are slow to divide. Here is one of my plants from a few years ago.
