So it decided that it will waste half of its pitchers...and it is really half! ???

Oh dear! That doesn't look very good. I hope it's alright and just decided to kill part of itself [emo plant]. My Cephalotus killed off 3 or 4 pitchers since it emerged from its long, mild dormancy, but, it's replaced them easily, and thrice over! It must be scary, huh? I hope it's alright, best wishes!

Ouch :/. I hope it comes out fine.

Jess, did you actually notice the new shoots appearing from the base of the plant in the 2nd pic? ;) Or is it common that Cephs die back to produce mature pitchers?

How many Cephs as in the number of pots? Around 40, I think. But all are just small to medium plants from 1/2" to 5".

I would get a planter and space the 2" apart. That would be something to look at in another year!
