Inseln . . .

I was flipping through an old book of mine, Inseln in der Zeit, a short time ago and happened to find an interesting photo of Heliamphora folliculata, then just an un-named species. The book by Uwe George about a German expedition to the stickier parts of Venezuela, was published in 1988; and H. follicullata was only registered and given its propers in 2001 -- thirteen years later (http://www.carnivorousplants.org/cpn/Species/v30n4p120_125.html). It still strikes me as odd that it took that long, considering how often the damn plants are being named. The much-lauded H. x butchinensis immediately springs to mnid.
