Why can't mine ever look that good? On a positive note, the complex cross is amazing!

My cloning project.. I'm doing Adrian Slack, Leah Wilkerson, Schnell's Ghost, Doreen's Colossus and my 2 different Adrian Slack x Judith Hindle siblings(one is dark veined and one is very slackish).. Hopefully I'll see some new pitchers popping up in about a month..

Very cool! So you doing all the rare ones so you'll be able to trade them later on? :)

  • #64
Trade or sell, yeah ;)

Nice collection going there Brie. Do you have any updates on those seedlings I germinated? BTW - you can clip those few remaining seedpods. They don't need to be brown before you cut them. It is late in the season and they are basically done. I clip yellow to light green pods all the time. I rarely let them turn brown on the plant. I just let them dry for a day or two in the house before I crack them open.

Fred, The Leah Wilkerson cross ones didnt take outside conditions here too well. :\ then they got attacked by that obnoxious powdery white fungus. Im planning on cleaning the remainders up, spraying them heavily, repotting them and moving them inside now that i'll have more room.. The others that were older are doing awesomely. I got a real nice white pitcher out of the Adrian Slack x Hurricane Creek Whites. I'll snap some quick pics for you asap. :)

Also, thats good to know.. these last ones are being soooo stubborn.. Still lightish green and healthy looking.. Didnt know you could cut em off while still green. Ill go do that asap as well. Thanks!

Well I figured i'd put an update up here... All my baby sarrs from Fred P, Eric/Dionea Jerry A. and a few others did extremely well indoors over the winter and have taken off like a rocket. Still battling a little bit of Powdery Mildew(UGH!) which im about to use something much stronger on, but if I stay ontop of it with neem, it doesnt seem to damage the plants at all..

Anyway, here's some pics...

Fred, the ones on the back right are the ones from you. :) except for the awesome AS x HCW which are SUPER tall now and are out of view of the camera, on the left. I forgot to get a pic of them. Doh.

So you finally took your Doreen's colossus apart huh?

Nice pictures as always :D

  • #72
Took it apart? I havent really done anything withit in the past year. Last spring i repotted it into a 25gal pot and took a couple divisions off of it then.. havent touched it since then.. although now that im moving im going to be digging up the few sarrs that are in that huge pot and putting them into individual pots, at least for the move cuz the pot is way too heavy to carry very far. Lol.

  • #73
Oh your post said you were propogating or something I figured you divided the rhizome, which last I remember was like the size of a softball.

First real update of 2013... Went outside and took pics now that everything is moved to my new house and trimmed up... I have more flowers this year then I ever have.. Must of been our mild winter or something.. But everything is about to explode with growth. Pretty awesome... I'm also pretty stoked that the TDS in my new house is only 20 out of the tap! Being able to use the garden hose to water everything is going to be epic.. No more making and lugging out 20-30 gals of RO nearly every day during the summer. Woot!

Doreen's Colossus, in its temporary home.. I had to move it in a giant mixing bowl because it didnt fit in any of biggest 12" pots that I had.. Even in this big mixing bowl, there was only like 1" between the rhyzome and the bowl to stuff media into. lol. And the roots were easily 18" long.. I had to dig nearly to the bottom of the huge bog container to get it out.. (I had to remove all the plants from my bog planter to move it, and empty half the contents, so I could move it. Weighed a few hundred pounds. lol)..

Took a couple divisions while it was unearthed.. Trade/Sale fodder...

dun dun DUUNNN!!! Blackberry Sundae moorei is sending up a flower!!! Now what to cross it with.. Should I go with something red? Bloodmoon, Hank, lueco 'Burgundy'? or another Moorei.. Adrian Slack or Leah Wilkerson? Ugh so many decisions...

An unknown.. Sigh.. Apparently I missed a few tags when I redid them all with the new amazing permanent marker and this one is totally faded. All I can tell is that its a rubra, and has alot written on the tag.. So Im gunna have to set aside all my rubras, and cross reference with my growlist to see whats missing..

Everything looking sooo good Brie! Looks like you have lots more outdoor growing room at the new place, nice.

I also have way more sarrs flowering than ever before, and more flower stalks per plant too. The sarr seedlings also seem to be taking off more rapidly. I think it is due to the very mild winter we had.

  • #76
Thanks. :) Yeah i have a TON more space, and everything has much more light..

Yeah, I definitely think the mild winter is making everything super happy this spring.. More flowers then ive ever seen..

  • #77
Ughh. Wishing I had won that purp from CCPS... Everything looks awesome. Great start.

  • #78
Argghh so much space! That place is going to be a private nursery by 2014. Jealous, Brie. Very jealous.

  • #79
You going to be busy doing all those crosses. Good luck with them all.

Told ya you'd be onto bigger and better places in no time. Looks great!!
Now just to get that lawn mowed and you'll be all set.
