Sarrs in CO

  • #21
Oreophila has always ben my best plant. It doesn't seem to care when weather take off the first set of pitchers (or second.... or fifth), it keeps going until eventually a nice crop just stays there, and this year, I have a bunch, and they're all covered on the inside with deep red veins. I have never seen them that thick....

  • #22
That oreophila is from Cherokee County, AL. I'd recognize it anywhere.

  • #23
Is that the location data for the clone from Meadowview? That's where I got this plant, if that's the actual location data I will label it as such.

  • #24
A fantastic looking pitcher on one of the new alata Van Cleave Co. MS plants

'Judith Hindle' gets really dark around here

A newly opened and then an aged pitcher on 'Snake Bite'

The outdoor pitchers on the 'Scarlet Belle' x swaniana pitchers are considerably shorter, as expected, but they are also forming an oddly pointed tip

SG purp burkii

SG rubra rubra x purp purp

x areolata

my alata 'Night' x "red" seedlings have been moved outside, and the first pitchers are opening. While they have only just begun to darken, some are showing noticeable blushes and nearly all have the red lids. Each pic is a different seedling

clone A of x catesbaei "Monster" x purpurea 'Red Ruffles', newly opened and far from fully colored

And lastly, clone B of purp burkii x rubra jonesii

  • #25
alata Van Cleave MS

x catesbaei "Monster" x purpurea 'Red Ruffles' clone D

leuco typical

the better looking psittacina Van Cleave MS

Stately pitcher on 'Royal Ruby' x 'Adrian Slack' clone C

And clone A is the largest seedling right now, not fully colored but the lid shows its potential

Apologies for blurriness, it was getting dark: the 2 darkest seedlings of alata 'Night' x red

the reddest flava 'Cinnamon Tube' x 'Adrian Slack'

clone D 'Leah Wilkerson' x 'Royal Ruby' is breathtaking even at only 6 inches tall

And, 2 clones of 'Cyclops' x 'Edojiman'

x bellii x 'Leah Wilkerson', some almost ready to go outside

Variety in leuco Baldwin Co. seedlings

This one is still rather small, but has the whitest lid, and very little other color

And this is the biggest one

rubra gulfensis "Crestview FL"

One of the x umlauftiana x leuco HCW seedligns showing great promise

ruba rubra Brunswick Co. NC

flava rugelii A x B

'Daina's Delight'

'Snake Bite' has become one of the largest plants in the pool right now, and has an immense hood on this latest pitcher

  • #27
x catesbaei "Monster" x purp 'Red Ruffles' clone D. This is the reddest one

rubra rubra x purp purp

the big rubra jonesii OP (x alata?)

new additions (thanks Paul!): 'Leah Wilkerson' x flava rubricorpora. One looks like the red tube, the other a rugelii

x areolata

another new addy, minor okee

x catesbaei "Monster" x purp 'Red Ruffles' clone A. In the greenhouse this was the reddest clone, now just a lot of veins

'Mardi Gras' lid

'Snake Bite' is huge, as always

x moorei x leuco, a lot of red veins

the thinnest seedling of the leuco "Baldwin Co." batch

This is always the best time of year for 'Daina's Delight'

  • #28
The biggest x bellii x 'Leah Wilkerson' threw up a beautiful, vermillion fall pitcher. This plant seems to have a thing for making kinky lips too

2 clones of 'Cyclops' x 'Edojiman'

'Red Sumatra' OP. Some plants are elegant, some colorful, some both

The biggest plant of the batch (rubra jonesii viridescens x alata red/black) x 'Adrian Slack'. Pitchers don't have a lot of color, but veins are dark where they appear and the shape is nice

the most heavily veined alata 'Night' x "red" seedling so far

Late season flava rubri Liberty Co. L x Best clone pitcher. It still has nice color even when nowhere near fully colored

x catesbaei "Monster" x purp 'Red Ruffles' clone A filling in finally

random 'Royal Ruby' x 'Adrian Slack' clone

young clone of 'Scarlet Belle' x swaniana showing a lot more color than its sibling (shown later)

"Monster" x 'Red Ruffles' clone D. The pictures don't do it justice, this plant is nearly blood red now that the color has matured

psittacina Van Cleave MS clone A

'Leah Wilkerson' x 'Royal Ruby' clone B. The small lid seems to be a permanent feature

"Monster" x 'Red Ruffles' clone B with a much more classic look

r. rubra x p. purpurea

late season flava atropurpurea pitcher. Even after being moved around and surviving its first CO summer it still has nearly solid traps. Can't wait for its performance next year

The big 'Scarlet Belle' x swaniana

Lastly, x readii Sunbelle clone 3. Love the pink

  • #29
Wow those are nice. What do you do with them over winter?

  • #30
In my climate, they get stuck waiting it out in the basement.

  • #31
Lot of photos this time around. Late summer/early fall really is the best time for most Sarrs. The traps are big, the colors phenomenal... the only things that could improve are if I had a slightly longer growing season, and maybe a little more humidity.... but oh well, it is what it is. On with the pics.....

S. alata "cuprea" Van Cleave MS. I call these two cupreas since older pitchers get a coppery blush on the lid

I love the heavy veined ones. So pretty.
Also that minor minor okefenokeensis looks awesome.

  • #34
Veins are beautiful, but I'm a sucker for dark colors or extreme contrast even more.

The second leucophylla "Baldwin Co." plant opened a fall pitcher, and I shall dub this one clone B. The complete opposite of the one above, this guy only has faint red veins under the lip and just barely on the hood, everything else is neon green and white. Also, this may be a var. alba since the inside of the tube has no color of its own, just the bleed-through from seeing the veins on the outside

More of the Baldwin Co. leucos have been opening up. Not quite all are at the "semi-mature" stage the pics above are, but there's variety. Apologies in advance for all blurry pics.
Clone F is another very white plant
15491630445_44abf24039.jpg

Clone E is redder
15491279382_87bd76e011.jpg

Clone D is a stately plant in shape, hard to tell what the veins will look like though

The clone B pitcher has matured
15491288922_03c4bf2de4.jpg

And clone C is another red plant, with a thick, pouty cherry lip
15488496631_047def3b14.jpg

15305079847_79fb287292.jpg

The red tube clone of 'Leah Wilkerson' x flava rubri is still sending out nice pitchers. It sibling, however, is being slow
15304740349_fffd850762.jpg

This newest pitcher on the minor okee is very, very nicely copper
15491298882_8314cabd55.jpg

The stoutest r. alabamensis pitcher I've ever seen
15304954860_2aca331aa7.jpg

And the 'Royal Ruby' x 'Adrian Slack' Clone D sent out a gorgeous fall pitcher. The color is not reflection off the pink pool, it is actually vermillion and hot pink. I am nicknaming it the "Daina's Delight of moorei's."
15305089297_f3a02e7c2a.jpg
