Moss growing around Cephalotus, should I remove it?

I'm not sure if it's safe to leave it growing or should I remove the moss that's growing on the surface.
 
If it is growing over the leaves and pitchers of the plant then you should remove it. Trimming it back will not have any negative effects.
 
What kind of moss? Do you have a picture?
