Heliamphora seed viability?

I was curious if Heliamphora seed store well, or are they best sowed right away?

Hello :)

From my experience, it will be better if you sow your heli seeds right away.

The germination % will dramatically decrease if you wait a couple months before sowing them.

Cheers

That's what I was afraid of. I have an oppurtunity to get some seed, but its age is unknown.

Thanks!

Give a try ! :)

I probably will!

Do they need to be stratified or can I plant them right away?

Heliamphora are tropical inhabitants of permanently wet areas, so as such there shouldn't be any stratification or other treatment needed, but a GA3 treatment of old seeds might help...

I have typically used a 250 ppm solution of GA3 for twelve hours with Heliamphora seed -- especially those of suspect age. It improved my germination rates by about 25% . . .

Great info! Thanks!
