Seedling pot depth

I'm going to repot my S. flava 'rugellii' seedlings this spring into something where they'll have more room around themselves to grow. My initial indea was to use a seeding tray I have leftover, but to punch some holes in the bottom... What would you say is the minimum depth for sarr seedlings? They germinated in october, and they're all in a four inch pot now...

Hi, The seedlings won't be that tall, but as long as they are separated apart they can do ok in 2" or so of compost mix..
