How long Sarracenia seeds survive?

  • #21
Here's something I do if sarracenia seeds are really old (I mean like 5 years). Before you stratify them soak them in distilled water with a touch of dish detergent, and by touch I mean touch the detergent and disperse it in the water. Let it soak overnight, then stratify.

That makes sence, dish detergent would break appart the outer non-polor coating of the seed so it could more redilly absorb water. Next time I try planting 5 year old seeds I'll try that (yes, I planted 5 year old seeds last year around this time, and only got 2 of 70-some to sprout)
