I wouldn't remove them. The pitchers should open after the flower blooms. Depends on what type. Some pitchers open the same time the flower blooms. It really doesn't slow growth down.

You should remove them when the seed capsule turns brown, in the fall. Then share the seed here on PFT.

Leave the flowers, they don't exhaust the plant. If you have two open, take the pollen from one and put it on the five bumps inside the umbrella, at each corner. In autumn the seed pods will split and you can collect seed.
