Sarracenia purpurea

elgecko

I've got a magic window!
I have a Sarracenia purpurea which has a lot of deep red pitchers that were from last year. Do these old pitchers still photosynthesize? If not, do most of you cut them off to make more room for the growth this year?

as long as its alive, it can, i think...

For my S. purpurea, I leave them on until they turn brown & dry, then trim them off.

I don't trim them off until the leaves are dead.
