Laura- I do not do anything special for this guy. As you can see from above, the spring and early summer pitchers are weak and floppy like most all of the S. rubra ssp. (HHH is 75% rubra ssp. alabamensis BTW). As the seasons progress, the pitcher shape characteristic of this hybrid is more pronounced. An added bonus of the psittacina influence is the ability of the pitchers to remain in good condition into late winter and early spring here in CA zone 9. All my pure S. alabamensis pitchers are long gone by that point. Give yours time to settle in and in no time yours will catch up. Enjoy!
