Darlintonia - live sphagnum?

I'm just about to become a new owner of a few Darlingtonia plants (figure I'd give it a shot) and plan on growing them in straight sphagnum moss. Will they do better in live NZ sphagnum or the 'brick' form rehydrated LFS?

Either is fine, as the moss underneath the surface will die from lack of light anyway (and eventually turn to peat over many many years).

Amazing... I learn something new everyday. Thanks.

I would think that the live stuff (on the top of the pot) would provide more benefit: it helps to acidify the environment and remove salts. The dead stuff can't do this.

I was unaware that live sphagnum removes salts, but dead sphagnum and peat have the same acidic qualities as live.
