Another B. liniflora germination question

Does it have to be bleach? Can one use vinegar? What happens in nature? Is the purple dye really a growth inhibitor and whose growth is it inhibiting?

I dunno, I just sowed them as is. I didn't track the germination ratio as the pot was self-reseeded when I bought it.

I thought it was only Byblis gigantea seeds that need smoke or heat/flame treatment to get them to germinate.

I suppose if you get a good seed set you can experiment.

B. liniflora is easy to germinate, no need for doing all that other stuff.

Yeah, Michelle sent me my very first batch of seeds, 4 years ago. I didn't know any better and just treated them like any sundew - slightly moist media, in a closed plastic pipette container, by the window. Within 10 days all 23 seeds germinated. I never saw that success again. And then I killed them, weeks later!
