Posing Swallowtail

DroseraBug

Grow Pitcher Plants!
I know its not a reptile or aquarium animal but thought it was colorful and someone out there is probably a butterfly fan. It's a palamedes swallowtail (Papilio palamedes).
Photo was taken on a site in Cumberland County, NC. I was being torn up by fire ants at the time as they were climbing the dewy vegetation. I'm pretty sure the swallowtail was hanging there drying its wings from the morning dew. Hope you enjoy.

Beautifull creature. I don't know much about butterflies, but I do know one of my favortie times of the year is when the monarchs migrate through. Thanks for sharing.

I guess I like Iron Butterfly too.:-D

Very nice. Do you have a bigger version of the picture?

Is that any bigger? It is a large photo on my end. It was not a large photo on my work computer. Strange.

That's a nice pic. You can see the details of it.
