That picture really is outstanding. It makes most other Hamata's look like sissies. http://www.petflytrap.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/new/smile.gif
Congratulations schloaty. Got any pictures? http://www.petflytrap.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/new/smile.gif
Yeah the sphagnum is also awesome. http://www.petflytrap.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/new/smile.gif
About the lowii closeup. Are those the "white egg thingies" the lower pitchers have under the...
One thing about that page:
At step 5 he cuts the lower part of the stem along it's length.
Is this the best way?
You can also do it like a cross (very short) at the bottom part right?
Will...
Aaaah my eyes! Too much beauty all at once. http://www.petflytrap.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif
Thanks for posting Schloaty.
SuperSphag are the chopped of growing points from the NZ stuff when it's dried.
You wouldn't get the same result by just chopping LFS....
Yeah I was also stuck on highlands only first but had problems getting a good enough temperature drop. I’m gonna modify a freezer in the near future but first this terrarium needs to be filled....
Unfortunately when I had finally fully completed my terrarium and was ready to fill it up it was already winter and too cold to safely order lowland nepenthes online.
I’m currently still waiting...
Thanks Steve.
Yeah I know it's mostly the same but since I currently only have live sphag I wonder if I should really get LFS also.
What exactly happens to live sphag when it's underneath other...
Which soil type is actually better for Nepenthes? http://www.petflytrap.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/new/smile.gif
Mixed with some other ingredients of course (in this case: SuperSphag and...
I prefer the highland one concerning colours and such but I never knew it was larger than the lowland one.. Are we talking length, width (volume), or both here?...
What if it's very humid and water forms on the glass? Surely this also reflects light more?
Just so people know, you are allowed to name any Nepenthes after me no matter what. http://www.petflytrap.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Thanks for clearing that up Trent.
Lowee-eye sounds good in English but in Dutch the first i sounds the same as the second i making lowee-ee....
Do you have holes cut in that for the lights to shine through Ody?
Might be a good idea. ^_^
PinguiculaMan > Yeah I know it stops light but very thin glass won't stop that much does it? I've...
lol http://www.petflytrap.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Currently I'm always saying lowy (Spoken as 'lowee') but although it sounds better than "two" it doesn't make sense.
Lowii is...
I've got a somewhat offtopic question but I didn't feel like creating a sepperate topic for it.
This has plagued me for quite some time now:
How do you pronounce lowii, belii, vogelii and the...
Well I don’t think that particular growing point itself but it depends when and how far you have cut it. But as long as there is still a dormant growing node on the stem it will form a new growing...
Compact indeed. I like it more than my Miranda flower which has it's flowers more widespread.
I currently have 2/3rd of my terrarium covered.
I use 2 glas pannels of a photo frame. This glass is extremely thin so it probably won't stop much light.
Haha awesome. You've got like a whole ecosystem in there. http://www.petflytrap.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif
Do you also manually feed the Nepenthes with crickets?
And how about the...
I love Northiana's.
But this one doesn't have the typical flared peristome.
Too young I assume? At what age does it usually get it?
Lovely pics.
How high is that grow chamber?
Don't your plants eat all the ants from the ant colony by the way? http://www.petflytrap.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Got a question:
When you have a realy large (/long) nepenthes which has the same problem (root rot). Is it better to take cuttings or just leave it alone?
More cuttings have a bigger chance of at...
