This one came to me as Pinguicula emarginata "Max". 'Thing's a beast.
All sorts of good info. Thanks, guys!
I am new to this species having a single tiny dormant plant surrounded by a pot full of seeds. I do wonder from the comment about it growing faster in sand if it wouldn't prefer a more neutral medium...
:welcome: 'Hope you find all that you are looking for. Your bog plans sound cool.
Well, you know that someone is going to ask which species these are. It might as well be me. ;)
'Just a few more hours left to vote, everyone. If you haven't looked at the entries this is certainly a good time for it!
Welcome back, just the same, Tanya. An echo through TF history...
If you are having success growing venus' flytraps out of doors you might want to try Drosera rotundifolia, D. filiformis and from the butterworts, Pinguicula grandiflora. All should be compatible...
Yow! We've got quite a competition this month!
Yes - well-spotted. Despite temps down in the 40's F. it is growing happily alongside the Mexican pings. 'Been growing it for years but it has never grown as well as since I started putting Osmocote...
The title to this thread always applies - ha!

That's a nice, toothy one!
I don't think it meets the requirements of the contest, but I love the photo you posted. Very nice! I guess you could designate a single seed as your plant?
As for posting photos, you might find...

This plant is said to be the hybrid Drosera (linearis x rotundifolia) x spatulata. It is...
Certainly bigger and better than I have ever managed with this species. Nicely done.
I hereby pledge to bring you some competition this month.
I was recently given some very nice little plants of Pinguicula calderoniae. Being as I do not have either P. heterophylla or P. medusina I am hoping a trade or two can be arranged with someone...
I try to not remove any leaf that isn't completely dead. If they have any green on them at all they are still photosynthesizing and contributing to the plant.
A check-in, being as it has been awhile. It may well be 6 months or more before regular meetings are resumed so I offer this idea. A few of us have met in local parks and other outdoor places wearing...
catalinux777: I would just like to express agreement with the advice already given and to suggest this info, if you haven't already read it:...
It's funny, but though I am not facing imminent death my family approached me yesterday with this very question. I guess they don't want to be responsible for my many plants and I don't blame them. I...
Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but this looks like normal development of a new trap to me. Has this trap had outstretched cilia before or is it a new one?
Welcome, Fisher! :welcome: There is always something interesting happening here and some very good advice to be had on the subject of growing carnivorous plants.
