Is it Illegal to Send Nepenthes Seeds Across Borders?

Are you sure? If so, that means I could send internationally... Could you point me to where you got this information from? I'd rather not break any laws.

Is it Illegal to Send Nepenthes Seeds Across Borders?

I've had multiple people message me on eBay asking if I can ship seeds to France, Brazil, etc... And I hate to tell them no, because it's probably very hard to find viable seeds there unless they know other hobbyists. However, I recall reading that it is illegal to ship Nepenthes seeds...

    Pineapple's Greenhouse

A repotting tutorial... You probably care more about the plant I'm repotting though. My N. vogelii has 3 flower stalks in a row lol...

    Pineapple's Greenhouse

    My greenhouse in winter....

    Shipping in Winter

Okay, that sounds good. I'll put in any listings that I'll ship when safest or sooner if they're willing to risk it -- I'll probably just ship with a heat pack either way and add it into listing cost or something. It'd be mean to offer it and not force it since the cold is dangerous. I'd for...

What are you listening to right now?

Learning Dutch, so listening to all the Dutch music I can... All of my American friends like this song...

    Shipping in Winter

So it's likely the plant will always be in a warehouse or truck or plane that is above 50F? And should I put anything in the description stating that cold damage won't be covered? It's hard to find a nice way of putting that lol...

    Shipping in Winter

Is shipping Nepenthes in Winter doable and easy? Here the nights don't get below 30F usually and days are in the 50s and 60s... I know on the east coast is must be very cold. I have a shipping method for Nepenthes that has never failed me, but I have never shipping anything in winter before. I...

Here's an update on some of the cooler plants I have, including a double-flowering N. vogelii!

    Growing Nepenthes in pure sphagnum

I grow all of my Nepenthes in pure Sphagnum with a heavy top dressing of live Sphagnum. I have them all sitting in dishes of tap water, about 2" deep at most. Never had any issues at all.

    Culling Fish With Nepenthes?

I may just put it in a bag in the freezer... I think it would feel very cold, but its heart would slow and it'd go unconscious. I don't see that being too painful, because cold doesn't hurt and then the fish would go unconscious and freeze without pain.

    Culling Fish With Nepenthes?

Oh god okay then that won't be happening. I just had the thought because I had hear people say that they do it / specifically use guppy fry to feed their Nepenthes... Do you know a human way to cull? If only I had liquid nitrogen (it'd be awesome and a fast painless death)...

    Pineapple's Greenhouse

These frogs are seemingly unaffected by Nepenthes pitcher fluid... Strange. He is still alive, I hear him croaking when I water the plants.

    Culling Fish With Nepenthes?

Is the digestive fluid in a Nepenthes pitcher strong enough to digest a live guppy? I would never cull a guppy even if it were ugly, but I recently received about 40 see-thru guppies (you can see the babies in the stomach as they develop, weird genetic thing, not the product of some lab) and one...

What animals can I keep in a greenhouse?

Frogs! Frogs frogs frogs! My frogs love bathing in the Nepenthes pitchers, it's great. :D I've heard that some people put bunnies in their greenhouses to create heat at night. You'd probably need a couple. You can get them very cheap from the right place, I'm sure. And one upside to bunnies is...

How to Ship REALLY Big Plants?

After four years I'll likely be getting a Ph.D, as long as my major doesn't change. So after 6 years, I'll hopefully have a job and an apartment, but I likely will have no greenhouse for plants. I may not even be in the country. I don't intend to stay in the USA, but I don't intend to leave. I...

How to Ship REALLY Big Plants?

I agree, four years isn't long enough lol. It's not like I'm randomly giving up because I've lost interest. If it were my choice, I'd go back to being 10 and keep the greenhouse for 8 more years. :p Yeah I kinda have to lol. I might keep a couple for my dorm room, maybe some of the lowii...
