Is this a real Nepenthes Jamban or an imposter?

Nepenthes jamban isn't sympatric with N. talangensis.

    Possible mutation

nothing but false vivipary, an occasional morphological (not genetic) quirk where part of the flower anatomy is replaced with a plantlet; you can read more about it on Barry Rice's FAQ here: http://www.sarracenia.com/faq/faq2680.html

Thanks Zu, it's been a while but the plants are still growing lol. Highland setup is pretty low tech, it's a shelving rack with a vinyl sheet on 3 of the four sides, lit by a southern window plus four T8s on a timer. Humidity is ambient + a few sprays of water now and again, temperature is...

    Klossii clones

The entire plant is densely covered in short, white/golden hairs. So far all all of the clones look very similar, I haven't seen any pictures of young plants that look like N. maxima hybrids so far. Supposedly the batch numbers represent BE's confidence of purity: BE-3773: 60% BE-3774: 70-80%...

    Nepenthes eymae from Borneo Exotics

The catalog picture for 3736 seems to have changed again recently (30 March 2018) - the full plant picture shows an individual close to making intermediates, and the flat angle of the mouth and tall neck look promising to me, but BE could have picked the most extreme plant to represent them...

    Wanted List?

It's some sort of Musa acuminata hybrid triploid, no idea what cultivar it is but it gets about 8' high and produces regular seedless raw-eating bananas.

    Wanted List?

If anyone's trying to downsize their book collection, I'm on the lookout for Schnell's Carnivorous Plants of the United States and Canada (2nd ed.) and Romanowski's Gardening with Carnivores! Might be able to pull some banana suckers out of the ground, but they'd be full-sized desert bananas...

Yeah, the lower pitchers on the web seem to be pretty uniformly brown; I certainly don't mind the contrast though. I wouldn't be surprised if it can get much darker - even though it's in a tank with lots of LEDs, it's actually growing underneath a medium-sized rambling N. northiana so it's...

    Sashoke's Picture Thread

Hey Sashoke, do you find typical N. burkei (the Mt. Halcon form) difficult to grow? Most people say it's as easy as N. ventricosa but mine always looks pretty marginal! I was hoping Madja-as would grow like N. ventricosa which I have no problems with.

Thanks Grey Moss, she's a girl and flowers pretty regularly although I don't have time to make any crosses. The quarter's wrapping up and I've been procrastinating like usual, must be this spring weather. I don't have a great lighting source in my apartment but tried to take some pictures...

    Nepenthes Genetics Question (F2 Hybrids)

Everyone's already touched on some great points. There are many complications to breeding Nepenthes - one of them is that there really haven't been enough crosses made for us to understand how the progeny inherit traits from their parents. The slow generation time and the arbitrariness of modern...
