Plants require a night time resting period, just like we do. They will get exhausted and decline if left on 24 hour light for long.

Actually, house fly larvae don't eat peat, they eat protein, ie flesh. Drosera capensis var. alba. A very fast grower indeed! Be careful, it may become weedy.
