    Nepenthes & cp giveaway

This offer is now closed. Everything is gone, including my large lowland plant case. My growing area looks like what's left after a Grinch has absconded with Christmas. It's kind of a sad sight, but I'm grateful that all my plants seem to have found good homes where they will receive excellent...

    Nepenthes & cp giveaway

Come and get 'em! It is difficult to do this, but I will be moving soon, and I don't want the headache of trying to take my plants with me. I have been growing nepenthes for almost 30 years and have many healthy and vigorous plants left in my collection, so here is an opportunity to get some...

Hey Keith, Just a short message to let you know that I haven't fallen off the earth. I lost my internet connection and email. Doing okay. Having a "warm" November but still wish I was in Hawaii. Wish you all the best. Glen

    My neglected Neps!!

It's like a riot in there! Maybe neglect is a good policy. It's easy to kill things with too much love.

    Browning bicalcarata

It's encouraging that the newest leaf looks healthy, and that the damage is limited to the older leaves and hasn't seemed to compromise the midribs. The pitchers seem to be okay, too, as far as I can tell from the photo. It would be helpful, though, to see a crisp close-up of the terminal bud...

    soil mix for neps ?

1 pt. LFS, 1 pt. perlite, 1 pt. coconut husk chips, & 1/2 pt. (or less) peat by volume. Works great. LFS is always available from online sources, as are the other ingredients.

    Do these VFTs look healthy?

I wouldn't mind getting some of those B52s sometime. I tend to like bigger varieties that hold their traps close to the soil, and I think B52s do that. I had a nice large-trapped "Walmart" variety for a while, growing similarly to the ones I posted, but the plants held their traps up high on...

    A few new Neps :D

Those are nice healthy-looking plants and great crosses. They should all be spectacular when they get a little bigger.

    Do these VFTs look healthy?

Venus flytraps take transplanting very well. I'm of the opinion that it can be done any time if there is great need to do so. I personally wouldn't leave them in exhausted or compacted medium to go through the winter. This year I actually had to transplant my VFTs again in midsummer (June)...

    Compact growing Neps

You can encourage N. ampullaria produce ground rosettes by letting the medium dry out just once.

    Compact growing Neps

    N. muluensis x lowii is easy to keep compact, it looks great, and it is easy to grow. They're not fussy and do great in the intermediate to highland temperature range. Give them a lot of light and the pitchers will be dark and beautiful. I have one that's been growing in the same intermediate...

    Venus Flytrap Pics

They start getting thick like that when the hot weather comes in July. In the spring after I repot you can see plenty of soil between them. I don't know about the red. They are growing in full sun, but they don't get it all day. I remember Steve (Elgecko) saying something about that. Some of his...

Thanks for the complements everybody. N. x 'Dwarf Peacock' is a Bednar cross: N. thorelii x (khasiana x ventricosa). Here is a single pitcher: In other news: Pepsi cans must have very high humidity and warm conditions in order to do well. I hear that the giant forms of Pepsi cans can be much...

    Venus Flytrap Pics

I prefer that the National Guard doesn't get involved. I can't remember how many individuals I planted in those two pots when I repotted in the spring, but I had about that many extras from what I thinned out of last year's growth. As for the safety of the neighborhood pets, a few of the local...

    Venus Flytrap Pics

I just started putting them outside in the sun, and off they went. I know what you are saying, though. There are still some plants I can't seem to get away with growing well for some reason. For instance, N. ventricosa used to be in my "can't grow that" category (N. Ventricosa!). That finally...

    Venus Flytrap Pics

The pots are 10" wide and 5" deep. There are quite a few plants in each pot to begin with, but they tend to multiply vegetatively, and the pots get pretty packed by August. They really don't need a lot of sideways room for their roots anyway. They're the easiest things in the world to grow if...
