Aight, pic time!
Some of these were taken a couple days ago, and the "filter" looks a bit barren (top drawer is empty and the scrubby drawer is only half-full). It's now full of proper stuffins.
Just a little update (no pics yet)
I've built a stand and gotten most of the plumbing set up for a new tank that should last him quite a while (hopefully at least a year, possibly two, depending on how fast he grows). Once it's up and running I'll post pics.
Basically the tank itself is...
Got incredibly lucky yesterday, and found this little guy struggling to get across four lanes of highway. How he made it as far as he did is a miracle. Tbh I didn't even know what it was when I saw it in the car. I've never seen a turtle this small, and thought it was a particularly slow lizard...
I already have both Ark and SE, so if you happen to play (or would consider playing with an acquaintance) that's why I asked, lol. Either would be fine, but I understand that SE has a pretty steep learning curve (even compared to Ark, which basically starts you off starving to death and dying to...
Been considering Rocket League.
I'd love to play Overwatch as well, but I'm not a huge fan of Battlenet nor of the in-game microtransactions. I realize that you can easily play without bothering with them, but I prefer not to support games that do that by giving them my money, lol.
Simple question, and I'm just fishing here, seeing what the response will be like.
I finally have decent-enough internet that I can start thinking about playing online again, but most established game communities are so toxic / unfriendly to newbies that I'm reaching out to try and find just a...
This one will be about 3 gallons, and the filter is the same concept as the one I made for the Betta tank, only on a smaller scale (I only used the bottom PVC piece and the grate, with a single piece of pipe running straight out. I also filled it with 100% API filter-sponge).
About as simple as you can get. Empty 20 oz. bottle, airstone, some used fishtank gravel, and a couple sprigs of hornwort. I'm working on a larger main tank for them right now. Basically the same thing only bigger, and with a sponge-filter.
That's an Amano shrimp in the pic. Somehow I lost 3 of the 5 I ordered. I found no corpses, so they must've climbed out. @_@
The fish is actually an American Flagfish. Technically a killifish, it's a bottom-dweller, and mine particularly is a juvenile. It's too small to attack the shrimp or the...
Updates and Stuff and Things
So....the Betta is still alive. Miraculous, I know.
I've also added some tankmates:
Now, due to the recent algae outbreak (and the subsequent 3-hour cleaning I had to do to get rid of it), I realized something had to be done. With the tank being in sunlight...
I know the feeling...but honestly, you shouldn't worry so much about crown-rot. It's not that common. You have to be doing something REALLY wrong to have a plant succumb to something like that. You're going to be fine. :p
I was going to try kitty litter once upon a time, but the only non-scented, natural stuff I could find was made of a soft clay. After a soak in a dish overnight, it turned to mud by just squeezing it between your fingers. Good test to do with any litter brand if you're unsure whether it's...
Found these just outside the garage door today. Possibly the biggest wolf-spider I've ever seen. If it's the same one, she's been living in the same spot for a good 3 years now, maybe more.
If I had to guess, it's due to them getting -more- surface area while compromising with faster growth, ergo, smaller leaves that don't shade out the leaves below.
Species has a lot to do with the size as well. Some are naturally massive, while others simply aren't. And like Grey Moss said, how...
