Will subulata smother my D. capensis?

  • Thread starter Drosera36

Today I got in the mail a plug of U. subulata. I planted it into my 4-inch pot with a D. capensis 'Narrow' in it. Will the flowers made by the subulata smother my sundew? And will they compete for space in the pot, root-wise, or will they be ok?

EDIT: I sorta posted this into the wrong forum. Is it possible to move it?

If you want to keep them together, they should be fine. I've seen many classic terrariums with drosera/VFTs surrounded by a carpet of utrics.

Hopefully they will actually flower a well, instead of just sending up flowerless stalks.

Ok, that helps a ton. Now I don't have to worry 'bout my favorite dew.

The Utric seems to be settling in nicely. (Oh, and thanks for moving the post.)

I have D. intermedia, D. adelae and D. capillaris, growing in a 10" pot totaly carpeted by U. lividia, flowers all over the pot, and the dews are doing fine. The D. intermedia even managed to go dormant.
