D. venusta flower; 7 petals

Like Not a Number, my D. venusta is also flowering, and it's first flower has 7 petals. I'm pretty sure that's more than normal.

The extra 7th petal is barely visible in the lower right of the flower.

And clearly visible here, on the right of the flower.

Would it be worth preserving this flower?

Better get it right away as it will close even as you watch.

Mine was flat out open like that but in the 15 minutes or so it took to setup my camera it had closed to the point in my photo.

K, it's now under a pile of heavy books. :banana2:

see how the next flowers turn out!

if it's and "all 7" variant, you've got something there!

Cool! I'm looking forward to seeing the other flowers as well as the pressed one.

My flowers seem to be opening early in the morning, what time did you notice that one open? I also have a second scape growing.

I noticed it around 10:30, when I woke up. Heh, I'm lazy. I quickly got out my camera, and then took a pic, but only because it had more than 5 petals.

Mine only had five petals so don't feel bad :)

Well it has 6 so that's still more than normal.
