Gemmae, seeds, and cultivars

From what I have read, nobody has been able to germinate the seeds of pigmy sundews and gemmae was the only way to propogate them. What are people doing to produce the hybrids? Does cross-pollination of flowers from differing species result in gemmae that have the genetic material to produce the cultivars and crosses?

my hybrid pigmy flowered and i spread the seeds on the soil and they germinated hah to the world i'l be making history:-)) jk

Hmmmm.... maybe I'll spread seedpods out this summer.
