D. peltata seedling on the hunt:-)

It just amazes me how big is the ability of some drosera species' seedlings to catch its pray. I checked on my D. peltata seedlings today and saw how 3mm plant successfully caught .5cm fruitfly:

I just hope one day when she grows up she will not eat me:)

Owned. xD

I'd be careful, it could rot.

It probably will rot.....the fly is way too big, but that is course of nature...except in this case it is anomalous.... beacuse if she wins she will also lose:)

Then why not free the fly (even if it is dead)?

let the drosera eat it until it starts to decay then remove it. No need to remove it now.

i think its eyes are bigger than its leaves...:D

Yes. it is a very greedy plant indeed! Now funny thing happened. I looked in this morning and the fly successfully escaped this little hungry mouth. Didnt get too far though because now it is stuck to a neigbour miniplant...and dead. Maybe peltata heard about the collective hunting from my pygmies:)

They're so cute at that age!
