Correlation Between Leaf Shape & Temperature

Is it my imagination or sundews that have long , skinny leaves (regia, filiformis, graminifolia) tend to be temperate plants, in contrast with short, decumbent, rosetted leafed (spatulata, dielsiana...) plants being more tropical?

I have observed that the long-leaved sundews are much more rigid than the rosseted sundews. Perhaps this is a mechanism to help them endure the cold temperature more easily as opposed to putting a delicate rosseted sundew in a rough environment.
