Don't be shy.. Help me out here. Anyone?

I'll give you a dollar, a gold star, and a nice shiney nickel.. Just please, answer my question.

Yes, that would be the eye, and it should be planted with the eye pointing up. :)

I'll put the dollar and nickel in your package Mark. The gold star will be ON your package. ;)

You have a tuber, Mass? If you are unsure, keep it bagged and when it starts to grow, you will see the little nub appear.

A few actually..

D. erythrorhiza ssp. squamosa (Albany Highway)
D. erythrorhiza ssp. squamosa
D. erythrorhiza ssp. magna
D. gigantea
D. macrophylla
D. menziesii ssp. menziesii
D. modesta
D. peltata
D. peltata 'White Flower'

So I really need to take pics of the Albany Hwy. The growth that has broke the surface looks a LOT like flower stalk. But.. where's the dew!?!? :0o:

It would appear that this subspecies when mature will put the flower stalk out first so the structure below are probably leaves.

Mature plants early growth

Sit back and enjoy the ride :)

Sometimes it can be very difficult to find the "eye". As Joe said you can wait until the stolon growth appears before planting. Even if you don't get the "eye" upright the stolon and roots will grow in the right direction as witnessed in the photos on CPUK where the stolon zig-zags because the tuber has been moved around while the stolon was growing. You shouldn't have to dig up the tubers again for several years until you need to repot or try to find additional tubers.

I actually saw those pics before bringing this question to the boards. Guess I never really put 2 and 2 together..
