There is definitely a binata or two (out of focus) and some moss, but what are the buds that are sticking up... some type of utric maybe?

Great pics!! The "flower stalks" you spoke of are the fruiting bodies of the moss

I do verily believe I beholdeth some d. occidentalis var. occidentalis.

Where is this growing? Is it an indoor or outdoor bog?

I saw a filiform the other day that was about 18 inches tall and so covered with dew it was remarkable. I'm not sure what variety it was, though.

That must be a wonderful bog in late spring.
