Madagascariensis "botswana"

I was wondering if the Madagascariensis "Botswana" need dormancy.  I have read they can take light frosts, so I would assume they would require a winter dormancy, but I have also seen them categorized as sub-tropical along with the spatulata which doesn't need dormancy.

Also, it gets extremely cold here during winter, so I think that's out of the question for my plants to be outside, even in the garage. Is there any other way of putting them through dormancy than putting them all in the fridge? I don't know if the basement gets cold enough for dormancy. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi Joel,

This plant does not need dormancy. Although it can withstand cold temperatures by dieing back to its root, it prefers warmer temperatures.

Great, I can enjoy the plant over winter. Thanks alot CP2k.
