What soil mix should I use for D.burmannii seed?

Whichever one you plan to grow the plants in, unless you are planning to store the seed. In that case I would keep them clean and place them in a vial with dessicant and put the whole thing into the refrigerator.

Would 50/50 peat sand work well for germination?

That should work fine. I sometimes use pure peat for germinating (cleaned of sticks and lumps) and then tranfer the seedlings into pots with other mixes.
