I've been experimenting with growing Nepenthes hydroponically since March 2015, so for about a year and a half now. I'd like to share my results in this thread, and then give some details about my method. Thanks to TF member knuckles for sharing with me his experiences growing Nepenthes...
I have limited quantities of N. eymae x ephippiata pollen available. Please PM if interested. 50/50 seed split. I may not have enough for all offers, but I'd consider even "common" plants like ventricosa and mirabilis.
One of the earliest plants I bought was an N.clipeata clone U from AW over in Germany, fall of 2009. Nearly seven years later, it's still a runt, and the slowest plant I've had the pleasure of growing:
In comparison, a clone 3 I bought a couple years later from AW:
And a N.clipeata x...
Hi all,
We've got a ginormous N. maxima encroaching on the Sarrs, and I assure you that the Nepenthes is going to lose the fight for space here. It's going to get some love that only a pair of pruners can give. The clone was purchased in the 90s from Wistuba by a friend of mine. I've been...
I've mostly run out of space in my grow tent and heated lowland tank. I've seen some very nice maxima varieties available recently (Gunung Lumut-the false Eymae, and wavy leaf). I was wondering if these would be hardy enough as windowsill plants. My apartment conditions are pretty bad for most...

Well, I told myself when I moved to SoCal that I needed to choose among Edibles, CPs, or Succulents. Well, this year I added... well, I guess I failed and have them all, oops! I just gotta grow. I've still got more seeds that I'm waiting on, not that I need more plants, but here's the ones...

Here's my grow rack. Temps stay around 75 during the day and 55 at night, with 40 and 70% humidity respectively. Lit by an 8 tube 4 foot t5 HO system with 4 roseate and 4 6500k bulbs, a 4 tube 2ft T5HO with a 50/50 mix of 2700k and 6500k bulbs and 3 10w 3500k LED floodlights. Plants get 15-65k...
How did you get involved with neps? Do you have a favorite? if so, what draws you to that plant?
My fascination with Nepenthes started long before I had the means to care for one. I had a VFT and a purple pitcher plant, and was reading up on their care, and in doing so, read about the care of...

In celebration of my 3000th post on Terraforums I am giving away a special plant of mine. It is a seed-grown N. eymae x ephippiata purchased from Tony Paroubek in 2011. I'll be honest; this plant has never been my favorite, but by now I have owned it so long and done so much with it that I have...
