    Pinguicula problems

Just moved all my plants to a new set up by necessity. I am having trouble with plants I never have before. Set up is wire shelf, covered with panda film on four sides, lit by four 2ft t5 bulbs. Plants are in 100% turface watered by tray. Temps are in the mid to high eighties during the day, low...

    Flat Drosophyllum.

A while ago a briefly mentioned that one of my dewy pines came up with one leaf and then never got around to getting a picture of it. It has more than one leaf now, but it's still oddly shaped. More like a menorah than like the brush shape my other two are. Have any of you grown similar ones...

    Nepenthes odd growth

Hi everyone. Im new to these forums. Im Dante from Argentina. I have a small terrarium for my new Nepenthes, but the new leaves are growing in spirals, with oddly shapes and never finish to grow. They have close to 29ºc and 80% or more of humidity. Any ideas of what could be happening?

    APS with Zeolite ok?

I have been meaning to try APS as a medium for my MexiPings for a long time. Oddly enough, the local Lowe's, Home Depot, etc don't carry it. A lot of the APS I am finding online has zeolite mixed in it. Is this an issue?

Getting a little worried about my S. Minor

I mentioned this in my introductory post, but this plant has still not shown any new growth. It's been in full sun for the last 2 months at least, but the leaves, despite being damaged, were vivid green with some pastel reds at the hood. Now this is happening: The W, S, E, at the bottom of...

    Camera Techniques

Didn't there used to be a photography section here? Anyway, I had been using a Fujifilm Finepix S2950 (14 mp) in combination with an adapter and macro lenses and had terrible results will blurry pictures so I finally replaced it with a Fujifilm Finepix HS25EXR (16 mp) and it made quite a...

    Seedlings & Spring

I couldn't help but notice a correlation between the onset of Spring and faster growth with the Nep seedlings I planted from 10/21/2012 to 01/15/2013. Oddly it seems that the smaller the propagation box used the faster the seedlings grew or another way to look at it would be the smaller the...

    Plant Planter's Photo Thread

Unfortunately I don't have many plants to take photos of. Oh well. I'll update this thread periodically whenever something neat happens. A lovely Sarracenia leucophylla 'Tarnok' pitcher that's grown to be over a foot tall. It hasn't quite finished opening yet. <a...

    awesome feeling of donating.....

So I had extra sarracenia seed and thought to myself "I should donate these seeds to the ICPS since I order alot of seeds from them at blowout prices." So I emailed John at the seedbank wondering if he was intrested and asked him to tell me everything I could do to make it less work on his end...

    Turface as sand/perlite substitute?

I recently moved to a rural area and I am finding a hard time finding cp supplies. The sand sold here is only quikcrete. The perlite I have found is small and super dirty. Oddly enough I found turface at a John Deere supply store. I can get decent peat and lfs from lowes. I plan on repotting...

    Truncata Potted in Bark?

I'v had my little 3" Pasian Highlands truncata baby for a month now. I ordered it from a terrarium supply website, so it wasn't strictly carnivores, so they may or may not have been knowledgeable. Oddly to me, this nep was potted in strictly small, thin pieces of bark. Is there a reason for...

    Whats this now?

I have a Danas Delight. The past few days/weeks/months have been blisteringly hot. I have kept my plant in shade for most of that time and well watered, especially after the massacre of dryness that i put it through a few years ago. Anyways, it's been doing okay, i cut and plucked all of the...

EP & globosa/hybrid pics... LOTS of 'em!

    N. bellii x carunculata var. robusta: EP expects this cross to look like a purple bellii x veitchii, so I grabbed a few. Here are three of my four clones (the last one hasn't pitchered yet): N. hookeriana: this guy is really big. The pitchers can be a bit darker, but it is going into...

    Odd adelae behavior

So I recently found that my little adelaes weren't looking so hot...The older leaves were beginning to turn brown and wilt. Newer leaves stopped producing dew...and the even newer leaves just refused to open up. I realized the pots were getting too dry just sitting in sphagnum so I replaced that...

    Zerowater filters

Just saw a new water filter on TV: http://www.zerowater.com/ Oddly enough, they used a TDS to claim that it filters it down to 0 dissolved solids in the ad. Obviously 0 is a bit of a stretch, but if they're going for RO-level purification... Anyone know if it'd work for Carnivorous Plants...

Failed P. moctezumae leaf cuttings, but....

A few weeks ago I pulled some basal leaves to see if I could produce more plants. Today I checked the pot and found that they all had withered. I then pulled a few older, outer leaves that were on the decline. Oddly enough, though still attached to the base of the plant, these leaves were...

    DIY Vivarium Quest 2009

Here is the brand new tank I got today for my Aquarium to Sliding Front Vivarium modification project: It's a 37 gallon cube which measures 26" H, 20" W and 18" D not as big as I wanted (twice that size really) but I think it's respectable in size. At least for a first shot at this kind of...
