My new seedgrown nepenthes robcantleyi arrived on Wednesday. I just wanted to share my pics and update this thread as it grows.
Plant was fertilized on 3/26/16 with:
-7 osmocote in the soil
-1 osmocote in the pitcher
-Coffee in the soil
-Maxsea sprayed all over the plant, put in pitcher, and...
Is this Sarracenia Purpurea ssp. Purpurea or Purpurea ssp. Venosa or Sarracenia Rosea? Any tips for this species of Sarracenia? Can I use osmocote for it?
As I am living in a tropical region, is it possible for me to let it undergo dormancy in the fridge?
What do you guys recommend?
In my country, it's not called Osmocote. But either way, it acts like osmocote and has almost the same ingredients. It doesn't have any urea so it's quite safe.
Should I get 14-14-14 (NPK) 6 months for leaf greenery
Or 14-9-15 (NPK) 6 months for general use...
As requested here's a couple of pics of my setup for my lone Heliamphora, a heterodoxa x minor. I keep it outside to take advantage of the sun, and to keep it cool in our steamy summer temps I float it in a 180 gal aquarium I use as a water garden. Water temps generally run in the high 70s/low...
So about a year and a half ago I started Some S. rubra sbsp rubra from seed from the ICPS seed bank, and at about 6 months I fertilized 1 of the 2 pots with osmocote 14-14-14 four month Flower and Vegetable plant food. I placed 5 pellets evenly apart in the pot, about a centimeter deep in the...
I noticed that most website recommend that you give nepenthes at least a 14-16 hours light cycle in order to grow them properly. With that information, I ponder if anyone has exposed nepenthes to a more intense light cycle ? Say 20-24 hours a day , with little to no night cycle ?
I am currently...
I have come across threads in other forums and one old thread in this one with people claiming they use osmocote pellets for their pinguicula plants. Has anyone else had any experience with this?
I went ahead and put some with my Pinguicula Moranensis var. Caudata plant since it was once...
I heard that some people fertilize their nepenthes by using osmocote. I tried doing some research on this topic and found out that people who have used it with great success, never mention the exact kind they used. Did they used the one with a NPK Analysis of 15-9-12 or 19-6-12, or 14-14-14 ...
Ran out of maxsea so ordered some online.... (yes, ebay)
When it arrived I opened it and went omg, this looks nothing like the Maxsea I had.
First thought was I got a bogus ebay product... now what?
Called Maxsea, described my concern...
paraphrasing...
"You cannot go by appearance with our...
Since i grow all my neps indoors, I usually squirt a bit of diluted fertilizer inside the pitchers when I feed with maxsea or growmore orchid fertilizer. I was wondering if anyone has tried dropping a pellet of Osmocote in the pitchers and what were the results? Positive/negative in plant...
I got a Drosera regia today, and I had a few questions about it.
First of all, how many Osmocote pellets should I give it? And should I put them on the surface of the soil or try to bury them in the substrate? The plant's largest leaves are a little over two inches long right now.
Also, it's...
Hi,
I recently started to grow plants, beginning with an Aechmea bromeliad. It's a hybrid cultivar called "haiku". Since I got it, it has grown a little more roots, and a few leaves.
I made some mistakes with it like putting an osmocote granule into its cup for a few months. only recently have...
I have tried and failed to grow regia in the house, so when a generous donor supplied me with a few small regia I planted them in the bog outside since I had luck with another one out there year-round in the past. They were tiny plants when I got them earlier this year and I lost one to slugs...

This was originally written for my friend whose interest is piqued in Carnivorous Plants. I've worked very hard on this, but I don't doubt that perhaps I've forgotten anything meaningful or gotten something wrong. Please correct, or add other...
So I went looking for lime for my pings...
The hardware store thats my usual go-to place for any plant supply only had two types of Lime.. "Hi-Yield" brand Horticultural Hydrated Lime, which feels like a fine fluffy powder, and Whitney Farms "Prilled" dolomite lime, which felt like it was...
Hello all
I arrived home from holiday to find that my girlfriends nan who lives with us has put osmocote pellets on nearly all of my plants, I had bought the bag of osmocote to try some out on some neps but not used it yet, she thought she was helping and said some plants looked like they...
