Dont know how common a problem it is for most folks. It is an infrequent occurrence for me -- I suspect as a result of my having the plants out on a third floor balcony. But today I discovered a capensis munching caterpillar. It had silked together a cluster of petioles -- presumably so it...

I just moved everything to a new set up by necessity, and I am having problems with a number of plants I have not had trouble with before. New set up is a wire shelf wrapped in panda film (4 sides), lit with 4 2' T5 lights. Air movement/cooling by small computer fan. Temps low to high 80's...
Anyone know what these Drosera are?
(plant on the bottom)
The first one I think is Drosera latifolia. I had one in that container a while back but I don't know if I lost it or not. I also have Drosera riparia in the container too, though.
The second one I got as Drosera oblanceolata. It...
I know Maroon Monster is more condensed in growth while green dragon has longer petioles but is there much of a difference in trap size between the two? they seem to look very similar
I noticed that my D. prolifera has some tentacles on its petioles. Has anyone else experience this with D. prolifera or other sundews?
Sorry the pic isn't the best, but if you look towards the center of the plant, where another flower stalk is coming up, you'll see some long glandular tentacles...
I've got some extra leaves to make cuttings out of, if anyone's interested. I've had pretty decent success rates (around ~70%) striking these by floating them in some pure water in indirect sun. Portions will be 2-4 leaf blades depending on how many people sign up, I can also chop up the...
I got this plant as Drosera derbyensis, but I'm not sure since the petioles seem kind of wide.
This plant came as Drosera brevicornis but I don't think that is the case as the traps don't appear to be elongated.
I really hope they aren't hybrids.
Up for auction is one small Drosera capensis red form, an offset from my main plant. The first picture is the actual plant up for auction, while the second picture is the parent plant.
The red form of D. capensis is just as easy to grow as any of the others, but gets a bit larger than the...
I'm going to use this thread to photodocument my breeding program of D. capensis. I have been working on this species for 5 years. My original goal was to mash all of the genetic diversity I could into a handful of plants, and then see what came out of it. I feel that D. capensis is a great...
After speaking with several members here among other growers, I have realized that there are more misconceptions about successfully growing these plants than I had thought. I wrote the care sheet below last year for the NECPS members to use as a guide for their cultivation and I hope that it can...
I have a large Enfant Terrible in an eight inch pot. It's completely colonized the pot since spring '14 and I was hoping it would flower but it hasn't yet. The potting media is a blend of long fiber sphagnum, perlite, and orchid bark. The pot is normally in my grow chamber 6" away from two t5...
Hello everyone,
Here is another call to correct your plant labels! :)
A few colleagues and I have just published a 35-page review of the D. montana complex. Like our previous publications on Brazilian sundews, this paper has been decades in the making and it has definitely been the most...
Well the title says it all. Over the weekend, now that school is out, there have been a lot of restless individuals in the neighborhood where a friend of mine lives. This friend of mine permits me to keep a small garden of temperate CPs on his back porch knowing that I am in between...
