    R. Dentata

I bought 1 dentata seed and 3 gorgonias seeds. Seeds of gorgonias are more common than dentata, but dentata have been very difficult to obtain.I want to germinate them all. I have gibberellin in my house. However, I found information that smoking is required to germinate loridula. Please tell me...

    Nepenthes in vitro

So last night I was feeling well and decided to try my hand at tissue culture. I sowed 3 tubes each of D.regia, N.talangensis x aristolochiodes, and N.globosa seeds. I have not attempted plant tissue culture before but I'm a lab scientist so I'm familiar with the technique. I'll keep this...

    Roridula TDS tolerance

I haven't been able to find any information on this. I'm curious what the general TDS tolerance of Roridula is, and if anyone has ever done experiments with soil fertilization with the genus. They certainly seem to grow better for some people than others, and I'm wondering if it comes down to...

    Nimbulan's picture thread

I suppose it's about time so I'll start with some recent pictures. Quite a few actually. Plants waking up outdoors. Some native Oregon sphagnum I'm growing with the outdoor plants, covered with netting to discourage those pesky birds. My crazy S. "Daina's Delight" growing more than 100...

    GA3 or Smoke Discs?

Hi all, I have got some Roridula and Byblis seeds which I have been itching to see if I can get to germinate. Now for seed treatment, I have got both GA3 and Smoke Discs but which would work better? Regards

    Claims that Cannabis is Para-Carnivorous

This thread is in no way intended to be an endorsement of illegal marijuana use. Indeed, one could infer from this discussion that consumption of trichome resin is harmful. One internet writer showed photos of cannabis trichomes, claiming: "There is no other plant like this in nature". I...

    Roridula Seeds

Hi everyone, I know this might be a long shot but I hope that someone can assist me. I stay in South Africa and I have been growing various CP's for a few years now. There are still many on my "want-list" and one of those is Roridula. Do any of you know where I might purchase Roridula seeds? I...

    Treatment for mold on Roridula

As it turns out, leaving a Roridula out in constant rain may not be the best idea - my plant has mold growing on some of the leaves now, especially in the cluster of new leaves at the growth point. I don't really have any experience dealing with fungus, does anyone have a suggestion?

Roridula Gorgonias, seed to flowering in less than a year :)

I thought I would have to wait two years before these would come full circle. Nope, these two precocious babies wanted to surprise me for the holidays! :boogie: Presently, these two are 285 days old.

    Utricularia's Growlist

I have been asked for my growlist many times and I am really bad about keeping one so here goes (As of this posting this list is incomplete and only includes my Aldrovanda, Genliseas and Utricularias). My Interests in the Carnivorous plant world Primary Interests - Utricularias - Genliseas -...

    Defining Carnivory

Carnivorous means that something is a "meat eater". It doesn't mean that something kills the animal, or else pure scavengers would not be considered carnivorous. A vulture is a carnivore simply because it eats meat, not because it may on some occasions kill things. Does that make everything a...

June 2014 NECPS Meeting at UCONN and Bog Walk in CT

This past Saturday we had one of our most interesting meetings to date. Mat Opel was kind enough to host our June meeting at the UCONN greenhouses which he oversees and maintains. Here are some pitiful pics of a small part of their collection. Greeting you right at the door of the Life Sciences...

Hi everyone, I am breaking out in cold sweat just posting this on the forum...the anticipation of what is to come, the excitement of what happened and the high chance of them dying in my climate... At the end of this April, I decided to give away the best of the R. dentata and R. gorgornias...
