I wanted to share my new ultra highland setup. I don't post much, but I got a ton of info from this forum during this build, so thank you all.
First, I somewhat suddenly found myself in possession of a few ultra highlanders via a trade, but didn't have the proper setup for them. The plants...
Once upon a time four-ish years ago, I started drawing all my favourite plants on a shirt. A couple surgeries, crummy markers, procrastination and life later... it's finally finished!
Size large, Gildan Ultra Cotton (heavyweight).
I'll pay shipping.
Bidding starts at $5.

A few months ago I got a giant drosera adelae from a friend of mine ( not the giant variety, simply a big plant). The plant was easily 5 inches across if not more. As soon as I got it I repotted into 100% lfsm. I saw the roots and they were thinner than I expected. A few months pass and suddenly...
I've mostly run out of space in my grow tent and heated lowland tank. I've seen some very nice maxima varieties available recently (Gunung Lumut-the false Eymae, and wavy leaf). I was wondering if these would be hardy enough as windowsill plants. My apartment conditions are pretty bad for most...
Maiden's Heliamphoras
Some of my Heliamphoras.
Some of them are from seeds i produce myself, the others are from Germany, France, CZE and Canadian private growers.
A seed grown heli, in normal conditions, take from 3 to 5 years to make his first flower. From my experience, hybrids push flowers...
What flytraps cannot catch food?
From what I gather, these cannot catch insects:
Wacky traps
Korean Melody Shark
Any fused tooth traps
Any ultra large traps
Angel Wings
Cup type traps
What others have difficulty catching their own food?
Some can be fed (and "massaged") in order to use...
Since I grow lowland neps one would think they are all easy but not so.........I would say that to date my biggest diva is probably Mirabilis var echinostoma.....i dont know if they are all diva's or I got a weak clone....it's worse than my northiana but then again the northy is small....i hear...
I bought a few N. villosa seedlings from a vendor at our 2013 Annual NECPS Show last year. I have them growing in live LFS with temperatures around 50F at night under T5 and LED lights. All of the yellow N. villosa seedlings are pictured below were labeled to be from Mt. Kinabalu...
So I discovered that shrews were taking up residence in my bog that has been under cover and under snow all winter. I had set traps last night and caught a fat shrew this morning. I was also able to check out the damage more. The things have dug under several crowns and ate all the roots from...

Greetings all,
I am procrastinating right now and avoiding responsibility for just a few more minutes so I thought I would make a list of some of the carnivorous plants I think are best to start with- a long with some comments. This list is meant to be pretty general and is perhaps USA centric...
I have decided that ultra highlanders quickly lost my interest. Too much trouble trying to recreate perfect conditions, so I have shifted my focus to cephs and intermidate neps. My eyes were always drawn to them when I looked in my chamber so I got more eye candy!
Just need a few more clones!

So just setup an empty 55 gallon aquarium to use as a highland terrarium, temps are nice without any added cooling.75-80 F day temps, and 60-65 F night temps, which from what Ive read as long as Im not trying ultra highlanders those temps are almost perfect.I plan on adding more plants and more...
Hello everyone! I'm still pretty new here and new to growing CP's so I have a few questions about this setup I just threw together yesterday. I posted a similar thread on "flytrapcare" and figured I'd just copy most of it to here because you can never get enough advice. I've kept many a reptile...
I'm settling in where I live, finally after far too many moves.
My Ventricosa, Venetrata, and something or other(not ultra common, but I can't recall the specie) are growing like weeds without effort. If I mist them daily, they seem to pitcher well.
I just use tap water since it's 80-100 PPM or...
I recently aquired some plants from another grower here in NC and before taking the plants today I informed him that I did not have the space to grow all these plants at the size they are now and he told me it would be fine for me to share these plants with anybody I wanted. So basically I'm...
Today I purchased two Nepenthes, both rather large. I was told that they were both highlanders, which proved true for one, but I was too dense to realize the species of one of the hybrids were of the lowland and ultra lowland variety! The lowlander is an N. x 'Momoka' (insignis x merrilliana)...
Hey guys,
Dunno if you remember, but last summer I modified an AC to fit into my tank (see my sig to a link about it). I've now decided to try something else using an office water cooler. Essentially it's the same idea as Martin Hingst, except that I used a water cooler instead of a fridge...
