    Nepenthes in Canada?

Does anyone know a source for Nepenthes in Canada? I went to Hawaiian Botanicals yesterday but all they have is alatra, ventricosa and sanguinea. I was hoping to find rafflesiana or bicalcarata. Or maybe a rafflesiana hybrid. I want something showy for a large vivarium. Thanks, EC

    Critters of the house

Hi all, This summer I have been greeted by some passers by. Uroplectes triangulifer I think? They frequently visit, hehe. Large. Tiny. (Poor pic) That is a 10c ZAR. It's quite a small coin if you have never seen one. The misses actually found it hiding in the toilet paper. :-P Actually...

    CP Vivarium

Hello everyone, I come from a background of Poison dart frogs and was interested in coming to the carnivorous plant hobby. I Love the look of the plants. Has anyone ever tried making a CP tank? I would put wood, a background and all the rest of the things together but i would have no idea how...

    Carnivorous Paludarium HELP!

Hello everyone, I feel it would be appropriate to firstly introduce myself before I explain my reasons behind joining this forum. My name is Alex from Yorkshire in the UK and although not new to keeping carnivorous plants, I am new to actually keeping them alive! I recently rekindled my love...

    Building CP terrarium

This is my sketch of what I think I want. I'd like to get more capensis - particularly the all red narrow. I've been searching a TON of aquarium sites, vivarium setups, terrarium setups, I've looked back at a lot of the old TF threads on the subject. Searched on youtube in my free time and...

    The Average 16-Year-Old's Room

As you will quickly realize, this title is sarcastic. I am not the average teenager. Instead of being attached to my phone, I'm attached to my hobbies. Whenever people walk into my room, they are stunned and have no idea such things existed. My room is easily recognizable even from outside the...

    Spraying Neps with cold water...

My vivarium gets a tad warm in the hottest of summer days. would it be a good idea to keep a spray bottle in the fridge and give them a good spray a couple of times a day? or would that be too much of a shock? thanks

    dueoka's new terrarium

Here's my latest project, a ten gallon terrarium! I used the GS and silicone method (great stuff foam, with black silicone and coco coir) to create the background and landscaped it with plants growing around my house. Sorry, no nepenthes, if everything goes well, I'll put a test subject in there...

Utric. graminifolia and live sphagnum moss/random moss free to good home for shipping

We are still in the process of moving all the plants down to the new house and I have to return the cube I've been using for a vivarium to my wife to use as a fish tank :-(. So we just torn down the main piece of driftwood and have extra stuff. So the way this will work is in 4-5 hours I will...

    Culturing Springtails

I thought some people might be interested in this, it's a method I have been using for about a year for a vivarium and I thought it would translate well to feeding carnivores, particularly smaller sundews...

A Big Photo-Filled Hello from a Newb in Missouri!

Hey all. My name is Cameron, you can call me Cam if you want. Or King XD I spend a lot of time looking after my animals. I keep reptiles, amphibians, and other vertebrates and invertebrates. I prefer to grow live plants in my tanks. I was looking for something good to plant in my very...

Has Anyone Used ABG Mix with Nepenthes?

It's mainly used in the vivarium community because it doesn't compact and drains really well, so I had some extra and was wondering if it might go well with pitchers? Here is what's in it: 1 part milled peat 1 part milled sphagnum moss 1-2 part fine charcoal 2 parts fine tree fern fiber 2...

    Latest DIY builds

I need someplace to really set up to get back into illustrating and sculpting so I've been building my own hardware lately... Drawing/painting/sculpting table: Top is a former Melamine vivarium stand i took apart, the top is hinged and I designed a pair of locking "steps" so I can hold the...

    How to: Wiring Case Fans

I was taking pictures on how to wire a case fan (DC) to an AC wall plug for another member and figured I would just make a post for everyone to see. This is good for getting air circulation inside of a humid terrarium which is great for plants, or for placing at the end of a light fixture to...

How tall are Utric. fulva stalks?

Looks like I'm moving back into the "healthy" category so I'm looking towards my next project and will hopefully be updating the old ones. I've pretty sure I've found out how to grow this species but I have yet to get a stalk (it did take me 7 years....to get the graminifolia in my main tankk...

    Moss murdered by mushrooms

Hey folks, generally I always say "no sweat" when anyone asks about shrooms growing in their potting mix or planted vivarium, as it hasn't been a problem in the past as the mycellium burns itself out after whatever it's feeding on is exhausted. However, in this particular instance what the...

Hey everyone, :D Well i decided poison dart frogs will be going into the 55 gallon fish tank. At the moment it's currently under construction. For the drainage layer i will be using the egg crate method. Any tips and tricks for the background would be great. I'm not sure how i want to do it...

    Vivarium

Hi folks, I'm looking to get rid of a 55 gallon vivarium - It has an access panel on the side, so it can't be used as an aquarium (not filled to the top at least). It used to house my lowland nepenthes before I outgrew it - but it's a really nice tank. Not really looking for compensation - but...
