Exams have just ended for me so I took the chance to visit my 'wholesale-distributor-for-BE-EP-nepenthes/private-nepenthes-grower/retailer-for-nepenthes' friend, Fauzi. He probably owns the largest collection of nepenthes in Malaysia (he has a nursery for god's sake! :-D) and I must say the beauty of his nepenthes collection and display is stunning. So amazing that in fact, I only managed to take a few pictures along the way for I was too engrossed in seeing every nepenthes! :jester: I'll probably visit him again next week and take more pictures. Meanwhile, enjoy what I managed to take!

P.S. mass, this one is for you as I promised 2months ago, I think

Your friend has a very admirable collection. Thanks for sharing pics:)!

Wow that ampullaria is huge!!
Awesome pics!!

May I know where in Malaysia is this place located ? I would like to visit this place in the future. Thanks.

Holly crap!! Wow that is awesome! Very nice.

Nice! That first picture labeled "raff or one of it's hybrids" looks like it's the BE99 clone of Giant N. rafflesiana, mine's not that big yet! :(

The N. x Coccinea brings back memories, it's the first Nepenthes I ever bought - after my uncle gave me a cutting of his N. ventrata which got me all nep-crazed.

So very cool, thanks for sharing!

wow what an awesome treat, to get to go visit, if i lived a little closer i would love to be able to buy some of those beautiful plants

Hi riceman, his nursery is located in Ampang, Wilayah Persekutuan, Malaysia. His website is:-
www.dapat.net/4zeplant

Thanks guys, I'm sure he'll appreciate your kind comments about his collection. TEASER: that amp is just one of many other vining/basal producing ampullarias :mwahaha:

Thanks for the link. Pretty pricey for his plants.

  • #12
Dear riceman, I would like to point out that all of his nepenthes that are imported from BE and especially EP have the phytosanitary certs, permits and shipping costs divided equally and included inside the final pricing of the plants. He also does not order plants from EP in the hundreds, in fact I think that he orders below 100 plants at a time. It is more of a gourp purchase than officially being a retailer for EP. Also, growing and selling nepenthes pitcher plants with a few of other CP species is his full time job. So some of the money he charges for the plants price are partially for his profit.

Then again, you should order plants that you want from other retailers inside your country or nearby countries. If you ordered from Fauzi, you would have to pay extra for the permits, certs and shipping costs just to send the plant to you.

Dug up this thread again to show some pics. I visited his nursery again yesterday. Pics were taken by me and another CP friend. The camera was his.

Gosh a mature N. bicalcarata is so awesome!

You'll need the space! I advised Fauzi to repot his mega bical (which is kinda impossible, IMO), 2 years ago, the pitchers were 25 cm! Not any longer for now....
