bunch o' Drosera pics (DUW)

I feel like I'm spamming the web with this thread, but what the heck... may as well post it on three different forums.


Pics of my healthier 'dews at the moment. I edited some of the pics to make the colour look like it does in real life, because my new camera doesn't always capture the right colour. Almost all of the plants are in 2 inch pudding cups, for size reference. Some of the plants also look pretty large, like the collinsiae, but they're actually pretty small.

typical D. collinsiae (almost 2 inches tall). It doesn't keep very many leaves dewy at the same time in my conditions, probably because of the humidity.

Little D. spatulata "Mobara, Chiba Prefecture, Japan" plants.

My all time favourite D. capillaris form. "Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida, US"

over cropped...

D. natalensis "Pink, Tsitsikama"

D. tokeiansis

D. burmannii "Sarawak" starting to grow fast now that I'm feeding it.

D. aliciae "Silvermine NR, Western Cape, RSA". I like this aliciae form.

New D. venusta

D. venusta "albino" recovering from lots of leaf cuttings... I can't actually grow this plant very well.

D. burmannii. I fed these little guys a tonne, but they still won't flower yet!

D. sp. "South Africa"

D. spatulata "Gold coast, queensland" from keehn's. In the middle of flowering.

D. snyderi. I don't like this one, mostly because i can't grow it well. I'll be trading/giving it away in the spring.

Small D. burmannii with very small and not so healthy D. brevifolia.

D. sp. "Lantua Island"

partly closed flower

D. madagascareinsis

D. rotundifolia seedlings. Super high germination rate because the seed was fresh and stratified for 5 months.

D. capensis "albino" x aliciae

D. oblanceolata from keehn's. it doesn't looks like the ones I've seen in pictures.

D. schizandra growing slowly but steadily.

D. prolifera recently repotted

My oblanceolata look exactly like that as well, they had the leaves like in the photo when they arrived but he sent them flowering and I think that took a fair amout out of them. I have tried feeding but they just won't grow. I have a number of seedlings as well which are showing very oddly shaped leaves too.

Weird that it's doing that. To be honest, it doesn't look like the true oblanceolata to me.. looks more like the lantua isalnd hybrid.

When my plants start doing something starnge, I usually start fresh with root and leaf cuttings. Fresh soil too.

I love seeing some heatlhy Drosera. Nice plants.

Keehn's plants produced viable seed for myself so they must not be a hybrid... Unless it is in fact possible to have fertile hybrids? Is lanatu island fertile?

LOL!! Thanks Aaron! I mentioned the same thing earlier in the thread. It looks almost identical to my lantua island.

@Peatmoss: Lantua island is fertile. I still don't understand what makes a hybrid fertile or not... i think it depends on how closely related they are?

I'm not really sure. I grow them on the tray method, there is always a little bit of water in the tray. I also have heat pads under the trays now, which bring the water up to 83F which might raise humidity. Usually the humidity is 50% or above. It took a while for some of the plants to adjust. The D. madagascareinsis and D. collinsiae used to only hold one leaf at a time, and not for very long until they shriveled up.
