The paleacea group (D. roseanna etc.) will sometimes produce gemmae several times throughout the year. And they will also form a sort of summer bud if the temperatures get warm enough. It looks to me that these are gemmae as the summer buds are usually much more regular or symmetrical appear. Although with some species like D. roseanna the best way to tell for sure is seeing if they come loose when gently nudged with a toothpick.
There are a few species that are very sensitive to gemmae production. A few cloudy days in late spring/summer and some dichrosepala varieties, roseana, lasiantha, gibsonii or scorpioides will make gemmae. There is one specie that beats them all...in my greenhouses pygmaea 'all green' makes gemmae year round with maybe one month of break during the summer.
