Yesterday I made the trek up to LA from San Diego to attend their Annual Huntington Botanical Gardens meet. On the itinerary: scope out the members displays, sales and give-aways (and ditch a pile of cuttings
), go on the tour of the back greenhouses, then there was a talk from DJ on his travels through PNG and the very nice Drosera, Nepenthes and 'chids he saw. As per my M.O., enjoy the story through pics
I got there close to opening time, so the tables weren't as populated yet... the usual fare. Some more showy neps, some pings and pygmy dews showed up too.
I shoulda taken a pic of the emu eggs.. 1 for $5, 2 for $20. Greedy tax
Noms table!!
So off on the tour!
Shade-cloth grow area starts
Grow area weeds are the best.
A cobra!! It was 90ºF+ out and there was a full grown cobra!
...to be continued in the greenhouses..
