hi, have been keeping CP for
many years but not had much joy with vft .looking at forum,i could try them in a pot with my drosera, which are thriving. i would like some advice on where to buy vft plants that will tolerate uk temps if possible. thanks, steve.
There likely are vft cultivars that tolerate cooler temps better than others with the number of registered cultivars that are out there but I don't know which ones those would be. I am able to grow most varieties just outside in the sunshine here on the northwest coast of the US. I just leave the pots outside in the winter rain and they start growing when it gets warm enough for them in the springtime. Some would keep the pots mostly dry throughout their dormancy. Another way to do it is to grow them on a sunny windowsill inside your house. You can either put them outside for dormancy or just skip it altogether. Flytraps really don't need a dormancy. I have plants that have been indoors in my terrarium for over 3 years now. You don't really need a terrarium, tho - they do fine in house humidity. Artificial lights can be a big help.
If your sundews are temperate like Drosera rotundifolia their growing methods should work fine with pretty much any flytraps, I would expect. 'Hope this helps.
