Andys Sanguinea 'Orange'

I just repotted my Orange Sanguinea which I received from Andy, so I figured I would take some pics of it, as an encouragement for others who haven't already ordered from Andy. I ordered 2 of these, one of which is outside in almost full sun. The leaves have turned a nice deep burgundy, and so far it has not complained too much considering it is in direct light. The one below is the one I grow in one of my tanks, and it is making some increasingly larger pitchers.

Not only are Andy's plants incredibly priced for their size, but the more business he gets, the larger his inventory, and the more diversity for everyone :).

Here is the Sanguinea in its original pot followed by post-repotting shots.

Nice plant. Wait until the nectar starts turning bloody.

xvart.

:-(

My plant is not small... its super small compared with yours zero!!

ive got bloody nectar on mine. and its still young...4" pitchers maybe.
striped peristome, and glistening everywhere with nectar.
mine is also from andy but isnt as squat as that one. ill take a pic of it tomorrow or tonight when my batteries charge x_x

mine has big leafs but finally after months there getting bigger should bought from andy and spent 4 more bucks :D

My pitchers still are not so marked on color, I guess because is a small plant and the photoperiod is not as good as is going to be on the summer...

But I can see on your plants how great is the color and shape of the pitchers, I can't wait to see my get more mature.

my leaves shrunk but not the pitchers. my guess is because of shipping but its all good.
the pitchers are still getting larger. the nectar isnt as pigmented as it used to be but you can still see that it was and still is a bit.

Very nice indeed! Wow Andy has a good deal on those plants! I might have to get me another! :banana2: I bought this blood red about a week ago, though it is very healthy it's a lot smaller then what Andy is offering. At least it seems to be a fast grower! This photo was taken the day after I got it, and the new chute on top has already almost completely unfolded!

Wow, you plants are looking great guys! Odd that your leaves shrunk like that SirK especially with the pitchers still a respectable size!

That's common SirK. Most of my neps when I first get them home, make smaller leaves and bigger pitchers at first. I think it's a change in light levels maybe. Anyway, it does correct itself soon in that both the leaves and pitchers will continue to increase in size.

Well I have received my sanguinea 'Orange' that I ordered Sunday 3/2 from Andy's site Wednesday 3/5! And I must say... WOW! The plant is huge! I am still new at growing Nep's so I haven't had the chance to see many of them in real life. Well this Nep by far is the largest I have had a chance to see up close! The plant is 6+ inches across!! The only problem I have found is that it received some damage during the shipping process, but I don't beleive it is anything life ferreting. Just a couple of it's leaves where broken in the middle, and one of it's largest pitchers (4 inches!) was crushed.:-( I'll post some pic's here in a week or so. For the time being I want to give the poor thing some quiet time in my tank to recuperate from it's rough handling from the USPS.

Thanks again Nepenthes for sharen! The plant is just amazing!!:banana2:

Those are some beauts! If I had room for more, I'd definitely pick one up from you andy. I can't wait to get outta this tiny apt!

cpjungle- Glad you good it quickly and are happy with the size. As far as the cracked leaves, that seems fairly common just with how stiff the leaves are. I think it doesn't help going out where it's still cool. but this shouldn't cause any problems other than the looks... If you've put it somewhere warm it will put out new growth quickly and get you some pitchers to see :) (If i remember correctly I thought to myself "that pitcher isn't going to make it through shipping" and thought about cutting it off. But decided to leave it... I think it had a couple more inflating too.. shouldn't be too long :)
Take care,
Andrew

Thanks Andy, yep I have it in my warm tank under cfl. And It already is looking much better! Wow this plant is big enough that I could take cuttings from! :boogie: It is a very nice quality specimen! It must have been in your care for some time to be so developed.
Well you be offering any other types of Nep's in the near future?
Thanks again!:-D

cpjungle- I was working on more Nepenthes for the store, but the place I was working on was really slacking which irritated me. Then I had the opportunity to get my hands on all those beautiful sarrs I've been talking about that are now listed in the store so I did that. I will always keep my eyes open for more Nepenthes, and work on dividing my personal collection for store use but I can't say when some will actually show up.

Also you're correct. I bought those N. Sanguinea about 2 years ago. They were little tiny fresh out of TC barely having any roots plants. It's amazing what a few years can do to them :) Now that it's finally starting to warm up, they should really start showing their stuff!!

I couldn't help myself, after seeing those neps I had to get one. You've done a great job growing them. If my even looks half as good as the ones posted I'll be happy, especially at that price (how do you make any money?). If you find other Neps to sell you can count on me as a customer. Can't wait to recieve my order!
