I was thinking of moving my bical from the window into a 10 gallon tank. I was just wondering what wattage is best and how far away should the light be?

4 40 watt bulbs should be fine.

Nevermind.

thanks, what about the distance from the plant?

okay, one last question, where can I get a fixture that takes 40 watt bulbs but isn't 4ft long?

I haven't found a tube that had an L or lumens measure on it.

I had assumed he meant 4 40W CFLs, though I had originally thought he meant tubes, hence the post I made and then deleted up above.
With CFLs lumens and the actual wattage output are usually on the back of the package or on the front at the bottom. Sometimes it takes a minute to find it.

I really want to use tubes, but are there compacts you can suggest, about 20" or slightly larger?
