Coffee WORKS as a fertilizer.

DavyJones

Is ready to take this hobby to a whole new level
There have been some threads about this in the past, and on other forums, but I tested the water with my highland Truncata, and have now moved onto watering all my plants with some cold coffee after seeing these results. This leaf unfolded about 1.5-2 months after I watered the plant with coffee (the next new leaf.) Amazing results if you ask me. Post your experiences. If I notice increased leaf size on my other plants that drank some joe, I'll update.

Yay another success story, a fellow member on the canadian Forum tried this on his macrophylla, its inclreased the growth rate, and healthier leaves. And according to him Live Sphagnum really accelerates growth. He posted some pics for proof and wow.

A few other members have reported great success aswel!

I hope ypu didn't mean permanently watering them with coffee.

Cool!

When you say coffee, do you mean black coffee (nothing in it), or a regular cup with cream and sugar?

Black Coffee.

Do you guys rinse the media after fertilizing with the java?

Jason

I do not do any rinsing. I water my plants usually 2-3 times a week. Say I water on M Tr Su. Once every other month I would replace one watering with a coffee watering, equal in amount to a water-watering. Make sense? Same amount of liquid, same watering schedule, just a simple replacement.

Hi,
I think that coffee make the plants can't sleep at night, so it keep grow all the time. Okie I just joke hehehe ! I will try it you use pure coffee water and spay it ?

yup, coffee works. :) What ive done recently is added 1/4 tbs. of epiphytes delight, seaweed extract, and superthrive to the coffee my neps are getting. Talk about improvements! its incredible what its done for them!

Wow that's really incredible! How do you get the water with coffee in it? Do you mix coffee with water 50/50 or you let the beans soak in water for a certain period of time. I'm tempted to try this!

Another question:

Would instant coffee work also?

Aren't decaffeinated and decaf the same thing? :D

A coffee maker/coffee pot.

If you're going to experiment you might want to consider using something a little more common/expendable. Coffee (cold) won't hurt, but this is a good rule of thumb.

Will coffee grinds work well?

I simply used what was left in my coffee pot for the day, in this case it was the brand 8 O'Clock's french roast. It literally was what was leftover in my coffeepot that morning, used at full strength.
