For me it would probably be (macrophylla x bellii) x (villosa x bellii) to try to produce a smaller, toothy plant that would tolerate intermediate conditions...

You know, thinking along lines like that, could try villosa x rafflesiana for a lowland tolerant, really toothy nep (though size wise it would still be big).
N. rafflesiana var. gigantea x burbidgeae. Hopefully we'll be able to do that at Meadowview. Our clone of giant raff is really pale.
