Nice mirabilis! Does it stay pretty much this color?

  • #372
Yes, the mirabilis stays this color. I have seen several that are darker, kinds purple, but have not been able to get my hands on one yet...

I had this guy for over two years before it finally settled in and pithered for me.

Mine is a bit finicky as well! I can't figure out what it likes.
I have the purple one you're talking about. Once it gets a basal, it'll have your name on it ;)

That Nepenthes mirabilis has the strangest peristome I've ever seen....

  • #376
Your izumiae x maxima is perfection!!!

but the Nepenthes x Mauna Loa is butt ugly lol!!!

Tanukimo, N mirabilis var echinostoma is known for having that very in-your-face peristome. It took it over two years to settle in and product them. They are unique....

That Nepenthes mirabilis has the strangest peristome I've ever seen....

Robster_24, the izumiae x maxima is one of my favorites!! I love how dark it gets. You can't really see it in the picture, but it also has the classic maxima mottling.

Your izumiae x maxima is perfection!!!

but the Nepenthes x Mauna Loa is butt ugly lol!!!

My Mirabilis var. Ech. started making pitchers almost instantly I got it bare-root. But over time the leaf size has gotten smaller (first it got bigger real fast) and I don't know why. Conditions are the same but I suspect that the roots have overtaken the pot. This one seems to have extensive root system.

Great plants, Keith!
I'm with you on this one; izumiae X maxima is a favorite for me too.
